Boss of Bosses is a 2001 American made-for-TV biographical crime drama directed by Dwight H. Little, based on the book by Joseph F. O’Brien, Andris Kurins, and Laurence Shames, with a screenplay by Jere Cunningham. It stars Chazz Palminteri as Paul Castellano, the former boss of the Gambino crime family, alongside Angela Alvarado as his mistress Gloria Olarte, Patricia Mauceri as his wife Nina, and Mark Margolis as Joseph “Piney” Armone. The film chronicles Castellano’s rise from a working-class Brooklyn upbringing into the New York Mafia, influenced by his cousin Carlo Gambino and friends like Joseph Armone and Tommy Bilotti. It depicts his disillusionment with a rough working-class lifestyle, his early criminal activities, and his eventual appointment as Gambino boss after Carlo Gambino’s death in 1976.
