Desperate Hours is a 1990 neo-noir action thriller directed by Michael Cimino, starring Mickey Rourke and Anthony Hopkins, and serving as a remake of the 1955 film of the same name. In Utah, Nancy Breyers (Kelly Lynch), a defense lawyer, is inexplicably in love with her client Michael Bosworth (Rourke), a brilliant but sociopathic convict. During a courtroom break, Nancy smuggles a gun to him. After Bosworth kills a guard, he escapes with Nancy, leaving her behind to falsely claim he held her at gunpoint. He then teams up with his brother Wally (Elias Koteas) and their partner Albert (David Morse), a hulking but dim-witted man, to flee. Bosworth randomly selects the Cornells’ home — a family of a decorated Vietnam veteran Tim Cornell (Hopkins), his ex-wife Nora (Mimi Rogers), and their children — as a temporary hideout. Over time, Bosworth and his men take control of the household, holding everyone hostage.
