In this near‑future world, The Union has perfected the creation of expensive artificial organs, available only to those with money or “good credit.” If a customer falls three months behind on payments, a repo man is sent to repossess the organ — a process that frequently results in the customer’s death. Remy (Jude Law) and his partner Jake Freivald (Forest Whitaker) are among the Union’s most skilled repo men. Their job takes a toll on Remy’s personal life, straining his marriage to Carol (Carice van Houten) and leading him to consider a transfer to sales. However, after a raid on a “nest” of debtors, they are promoted to full‑time raid captains. Remy tries to save his marriage by switching to sales, but Jake convinces him to take one last job — repossessing the heart of a musician Remy admires.
