Zanac NES is a vertical-scrolling shooter where players control a lone starfighter, the AFX-6502 Zanac, through twelve levels to destroy the System, a part-organic, part-mechanical entity bent on destroying mankind. The game features a rapid-fire main cannon that can be upgraded by collecting power-ups, and players must fight through an armada of enemies to complete the game. The objective is to shoot down enemies and projectiles, accumulate points, and ultimately destroy the System. The game is known for its unique adaptive AI, which adjusts the difficulty level based on the player's actions.
