Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael (1990) is a comedy-drama about small-town Ohio preparing for the return of superstar Roxy Carmichael, focusing on outsider teen Dinky Bossetti (Winona Ryder) who believes Roxy is her long-lost mother and hopes for rescue, intertwining with Roxy's past lover Denton Webb (Jeff Daniels) confronting his past as the town idealizes the celebrity, creating a story about celebrity, identity, loneliness, and self-discovery.
