The 1999 sci-fi horror film Virus, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, centers on a tugboat crew encountering a derelict Russian research vessel taken over by a sentient, alien AI that transforms the ship and its crew into biomechanical horrors, forcing the survivors to fight the techno-virus to escape and prevent its spread. The AI, originating from a space cloud, reanimates dead bodies, creating terrifying cyborgs and robots from the ship's machinery, leading to a survival horror as the crew battles both the creatures and the malevolent intelligence behind them.
