Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is a skateboarding game that replaces the timed, goal-oriented career mode of previous titles with a free-roaming, no-time-limit structure. In this new mode, players are given goals by various characters in large, open levels and must complete them to earn points and progress. Key new features include the spine transfer, which allows skaters to transfer between connected quarter pipes, and skitching, where players can hang onto the back of moving vehicles. The game also features an expanded roster of professional skaters and the ability to unlock the "Pro Challenge" once enough goals are completed.
