Roommates Janet and Chrissy find Jack, a culinary student, passed out in their apartment's bathtub after a party for their former roommate. Unable to afford the rent alone, they take him in, but to overcome their disapproving landlord, Mr. Roper's objections to men and women living together, Janet and Chrissy tell him Jack is gay. The season chronicles their efforts to keep this secret and the comedic misunderstandings that arise from the situation, including trying to hide a puppy from the landlord.
