The Trial of Billy Jack is the third film in the Billy Jack series, following the events of the 1971 original. It blends courtroom drama, Western action, and countercultural themes, told through flashbacks narrated by Jean Roberts (Delores Taylor) from her hospital bed after a shooting. The story is framed by Jean Roberts recounting her hospital vigil, interwoven with flashbacks. In the present, Billy Jack (Tom Laughlin) is on trial for involuntary manslaughter, stemming from events in the earlier film. During the trial, he recalls the 1968 My Lai massacre in Vietnam, a memory that haunts him and underscores the film’s exploration of violence and conscience.
