The Quiller Memorandum (1966) follows American spy Quiller (George Segal) in 1960s West Berlin, tasked by British Intelligence with infiltrating the neo-Nazi group "Phönix" after two agents are murdered; he teams up with teacher Inge Lindt (Senta Berger), but is captured and tortured by the mysterious leader "Oktober" (Max von Sydow), eventually leading to a tense, non-action climax where he exposes the widespread Nazi resurgence, subverting traditional spy tropes with a dark ending about the enduring threat.
