In The Layover, Alexandra Daddario plays Kate, a high school English teacher in Seattle who is uninspired by her job and under pressure from Principal Moss (Rob Corddry) to quit. She shares a strained but long-standing friendship with Meg (Kate Upton), a struggling cosmetics saleswoman who drags her on a spontaneous trip to Fort Lauderdale using Kate’s frequent flyer miles. The story begins with the two friends drinking to unwind, only for Meg to suggest a vacation to reignite their friendship. Kate reluctantly agrees. On the flight, they are seated next to Ryan (Matt Barr), a handsome firefighter on his way to a friend’s wedding. Both women are immediately attracted to him, and the situation turns into a comedic competition for his attention.
