The Hoodlum (1919) is a silent comedy-drama starring Mary Pickford as Amy Burke, a spoiled rich girl who leaves her grandfather’s Fifth Avenue mansion to live with her sociologist father in a New York slum. She adapts to the harsh environment, becoming street-smart and compassionate, ultimately redeeming her greedy grandfather and finding love.
