The First Churchills is a 12‑episode BBC historical drama serial produced in 1969, written by Donald Wilson and directed by David Giles, starring John Neville as John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, and Susan Hampshire as Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough. It is based on Sir Winston Churchill’s biography Marlborough: His Life and Times, offering a largely factual portrayal of the couple’s lives.
