The story follows Harriet “Harry” Fox (Uma Thurman) and her husband Peter Fox (Tim Roth), a glamorous British con-artist couple living in London. After Harry receives a large sum from a nun following a cocaine deal, both squander the money on gambling and drugs, leaving them broke. To escape their debts, they flee to Los Angeles, hoping to regroup and plan a new scheme.
