Set in 1889 Montana, The Ballad of Lefty Brown follows Lefty Brown (Bill Pullman), a loyal but bumbling sidekick to Senator-elect Edward Johnson (Peter Fonda). When Johnson is murdered in a saloon, Lefty is left to protect the ranch and its family, Laura (Kathy Baker). The killing is carried out by an unseen sniper, and Lefty survives to begin his quest for vengeance.
