In Shameless Season 2, the Gallagher family navigates new challenges as Fiona enjoys her freedom but also faces the return of Steve (Jimmy), who is now married to a drug dealer's daughter. Meanwhile, Karen gets pregnant and marries Jody, but later has their baby and gives it up for adoption, leading to a messy love triangle and a surprisingly romantic development between Sheila and Jody. Frank attempts to manipulate his way through a financial scheme involving a potential match for his pension, and the season culminates with the family dealing with the fallout of Monica's mental health struggles, including her escape from a psychiatric hospital.
