Mama's Family season 1 establishes the premise of a dysfunctional family living with the sharp-tongued Thelma "Mama" Harper. The first episodes show her son Vinton, his two kids Buzz and Sonja, and her sister Fran, dealing with Vinton's eviction and the arrival of his new wife, Naomi, in the family home. The season explores the comedic conflicts and antics that arise from this cohabitation, as seen when the family attempts to make money through schemes like appearing on Family Feud or trying to sell Mama's "miracle" tonic.
