The second season of JAG, which premiered on CBS on January 3, 1997, and concluded on April 18, 1997, featured a variety of cases that required the legal expertise of the JAG team. The season included investigations into the theft of the Declaration of Independence, a brig-break, and a sexual harassment allegation by a female fighter pilot. Additionally, the season saw the introduction of new characters, such as Lieutenant junior grade Bud Roberts, who joined the JAG gang at the behest of outgoing Lieutenant Meg Austin. The season also explored the personal lives of the characters, with Mac confronting her past and Harm going undercover as a Gunnery Sergeant. The season was notable for its transition from NBC to CBS and the casting of Catherine Bell as the lead role of Major Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie.
