Set in Los Angeles, 2028, the city is engulfed in riots over water privatization, leaving the streets in chaos. Amid this turmoil, a members-only hospital for criminals, the Hotel Artemis, is run by Jean "the Nurse" Thomas (Jodie Foster), an agoraphobic and alcoholic nurse haunted by her son’s death. The hospital has strict rules: no weapons, no cops, no killing other patients, and no non-members.
