Season 2 picks up six months after the events of Season 1. Carrie Mathison, now on leave from the CIA and recovering from her mental health struggles, is recruited by her mentor Saul Berenson for a high-stakes operation in Beirut. She successfully extracts intelligence from a contact, confirming that Nicholas Brody has been turned by al-Qaeda and is working against the United States, while Brody simultaneously rises in U.S. politics, growing closer to the Vice President.
