The game is set in the year 1691, a century after the legendary hero Christopher Belmont vanquished Count Dracula. Simon's mission is to defeat Dracula and restore peace to Transylvania. The game is known for its linear gameplay, platforming, and the use of the Vampire Killer whip, which is a key element of the game's design and gameplay mechanics.
