In Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 4, Buffy and Willow begin college at UC Sunnydale, while Xander joins the workforce. The season's main antagonist is the secret military organization known as The Initiative, led by Professor Maggie Walsh, which operates beneath the campus and captures demons for study. Buffy begins a relationship with Riley Finn, an Initiative soldier, and the gang must eventually confront the Initiative's creation, a monstrous human-demon hybrid named Adam.
