Blue Bayou is a 2021 American drama written and directed by Justin Chon, set in the Louisiana bayou outside New Orleans. It follows Antonio LeBlanc, a Korean-American adoptee and tattoo artist, living with his pregnant wife Kathy and her biological daughter Jessie. Antonio struggles to support his family due to a criminal record that prevents him from finding stable work. Kathy offers to return to work, but their lives unravel when Antonio is harassed by NOPD officers, including Jessie’s absent biological father, and is violently arrested. He is placed in ICE custody and faces deportation after it’s revealed his adoptive parents never naturalized him under the Child Citizenship Act of 2000.
