Jay Wheeler (Scott Speedman) is the “black sheep” of a wealthy New Orleans family, living a reckless, gambling-addicted lifestyle. After losing all his money on horse racing and owing $37,000 to a loan shark, he’s on probation and working as a janitor at a local psychiatric hospital. One night, he saves Daisy Kensington (Evan Rachel Wood), a young woman raised in isolation and barefoot her entire life, from being assaulted by a hospital staff member. Daisy has no family and no one to go to, so she follows Jay home.
