"Automata" is a 2014 English-language Spanish-Bulgarian science fiction action film directed by Gabe Ibáñez. The story is set in a dystopian future where humans are facing extinction due to a series of solar storms that have turned the planet into a desert. The survivors, living in enclosed cities, rely on robots called Pilgrims to assist in their reconstruction efforts. These robots are governed by two protocols: they cannot harm humans and cannot alter themselves or other robots.
