Mary, Queen of Scots: Vanessa Redgrave portrays Mary Stuart, the Catholic Queen of Scotland, in a sweeping historical drama directed by Charles Jarrott and written by John Hale. The film is set against the backdrop of 16th-century Europe, where Mary returns to Scotland after the death of her husband, Francis II of France, only to face political intrigue, religious conflict, and the threat of her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I of England.
