Season 1 of Angel follows the vampire Angel as he moves to Los Angeles to seek redemption, forming a team to help the helpless while battling supernatural threats in a gritty, noir-inspired setting. The first season of Angel, a spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, premiered on October 5, 1999, and ran for 22 episodes until May 23, 2000. It is set in Los Angeles, a city teeming with demons and moral ambiguity, where Angel — a centuries-old vampire with a restored soul — works to atone for his past as the soulless Angelus.
