Anchors Aweigh is a 1945 MGM Technicolor musical romantic comedy directed by George Sidney, starring Gene Kelly as Joseph “Joe” Brady and Frank Sinatra in his MGM debut as Clarence “Brooklyn” Doolittle. The story follows two U.S. Navy sailors, Joe and Clarence, who have just returned from eight months at sea aboard the USS Knoxville. After being awarded the Silver Star for their service, they are granted a four-day shore leave in Hollywood. Joe, a confident and experienced sailor, plans to spend the time with his girlfriend Lola, while Clarence, a shy former choir boy, wants Joe’s help learning how to meet women
