In Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb, set in 1935, Indy is tasked with finding the "Heart of the Dragon," a powerful black pearl artifact, which also makes him the target of the Nazis and the nefarious Black Dragon Triad. The quest takes him across the globe, from Ceylon and Istanbul to Hong Kong, leading to globe-spanning adventures that include underwater exploration, escaping from various traps, and engaging in fierce hand-to-hand combat alongside his partner Mei Ying. The story involves solving puzzles, fighting enemies ranging from Nazis to mythical creatures, and a confrontation with the triad leader Kai, who seeks the pearl to gain immense power.
