In the 1951 fantasy-comedy film You Never Can Tell, an eccentric millionaire leaves his massive fortune to his German Shepherd, King. When King is poisoned by a greedy schemer trying to frame the dog's caretaker Ellen, King's spirit begs the ruler of animal heaven to let him return to Earth. Reborn as private investigator Rex Shepard (alongside a racehorse reincarnated as his assistant Goldie), he works to solve his own murder and clear Ellen's name.
