The final season of The Waltons follows the adult Walton children as they begin to build their own families, with significant plot lines including Mary Ellen's discovery that her supposedly deceased husband is alive and his subsequent death , John-Boy's struggles in Paris and the countryside, and the eventual end of World War II which brings changes to the lives of all the Walton boys. The series concludes with John-Boy finding inspiration for a new book among the people of Walton's Mountain after his latest work is rejected.
