The Pilot is a 2021 Russian WWII film directed by Renat Davletyarov, based on the true story of pilot Aleksey Maresyev. The film follows the harrowing journey of Nikolai Komlev, a Soviet pilot whose IL-2 is shot down during a mission to impede a German tank column advancing towards Moscow. After crashing-landing in enemy territory, Komlev faces a relentless test of physical and mental endurance, battling hunger, extreme cold, and evading wild wolves and Nazi patrols.
