The Package is a 1989 American political action thriller film directed by Andrew Davis and written by John Bishop. It stars Gene Hackman as Johnny Gallagher, a U.S. Army Special Forces Master Sergeant. The film is set during the Cold War and follows Gallagher as he is assigned to escort a prisoner back to the United States after a series of events involving a conspiracy to assassinate a high-ranking world figure. The film combines political intrigue, espionage, and high-stakes action, with Hackman's character uncovering a conspiracy involving both U.S. and Soviet military officials.
