The film's plot revolves around Will Denton, a jaded American miner who seeks to escape his troubled past and forget his actions from the California Gold Rush. He finds solace at a lonely lighthouse on a fictional rocky island near the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. However, his peaceful existence is disrupted when a group of ruthless pirates led by Captain Jonathan Kongre attacks the lighthouse, murders the lighthouse keeper, and extinguishes the light. Denton, hiding in the caves and among the rocks, fights back against the pirates and saves an Italian wreck survivor named Montefiore. Together, they wage a guerrilla war against Kongre and his crew, using the lighthouse's cannon to resist the invaders until help arrives.
