The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse is a 1938 American crime film directed by Anatole Litvak and starring Edward G. Robinson, Claire Trevor, and Humphrey Bogart. The film follows Dr. Clitterhouse, a wealthy society physician in New York City, who becomes a criminal to study the behavior of criminals. He joins a gang of thieves, led by 'Rocks' Valentine, and pretends to take a six-week vacation in Europe as "The Professor." During his time as "The Professor," he challenges the gang's leader, ultimately seizing control and returning the gang to 'Rocks' control.
