In Suspicion (1941), a sheltered and naïve heiress named Lina McLaidlaw marries the charming but irresponsible Johnnie Aysgarth, only to discover his gambling debts, dishonesty, and possible murderous intentions. Lina becomes increasingly suspicious of Johnnie, especially after the mysterious death of his friend, and fears she may be his next target. The film builds suspense as Lina grapples with her growing fear and uncertainty about her husband.
