"Scattered Dreams" is a 1993 made-for-television drama film based on a true story. It stars Tyne Daly as Kathryn "Kitty" Messenger, who, along with her husband George, is arrested in 1951 Florida for a crime they did not commit. They are sentenced to long jail terms, and their children are taken from them, leading to a desperate fight for justice against the state. The film highlights the systemic failures in the justice and welfare systems of the era, particularly the treatment of the working poor.
