Martha, played by Diane Keaton, is a woman facing terminal cancer who decides to stop treatment and move from her New York apartment to Sun Springs, a retirement community in Georgia. At Sun Springs, every resident is encouraged to join a club, but Martha initially resists socializing. She meets her lively neighbor Sheryl, who gradually draws her into the community’s activities. Sheryl discovers Martha’s past as a high school cheerleader and encourages her to start a cheerleading club at Sun Springs. Despite initial hesitation, Martha agrees, and together with other residents, they form a senior cheerleading squad. The group faces personal doubts, societal skepticism, and physical challenges, but they find camaraderie, purpose, and fun through teamwork.
