Nosferatu is a 2024 gothic horror film written and directed by Robert Eggers, a remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, loosely inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. It blends the eerie atmosphere of the original with elements from the 1932 Tod Slaughter adaptation and even draws on Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula for its central love–obsession dynamic. The story is set in 19th‑century Germany. Ellen Hutter (Lily‑Rose Depp), a lonely young woman, prays for a companion and is contacted by a mysterious, otherworldly voice. She swears eternal allegiance to this being, forging a psychic and parasitic bond with it. Years later, in 1838, Ellen marries Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult), a real estate agent sent to Transylvania to sell the decaying Grünewald Manor to the reclusive Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård).
