Lost Season 5 follows two intertwined plots: the "Oceanic Six" survivors trying to return to the island, and the island survivors who are stuck in a temporal loop, jumping erratically through time after Ben's interference with the frozen wheel. The returning group is tasked by Richard Alpert and Eloise Hawking to recreate the original flight, while those on the island, now stranded in 1977, must try to prevent a catastrophic event involving a hydrogen bomb and the DHARMA Initiative.
