Leviathan (1989) is a deep-sea sci-fi horror film where a mining crew, led by Steven Beck (Peter Weller), discovers a sunken Soviet ship, the Leviathan, and brings a mysterious flask back to their underwater base, unleashing a genetic organism that mutates the crew into monstrous hybrids, forcing the survivors to fight for survival against the creature and their corrupt corporation, in a story echoing The Thing and Alien.
