The PBS Great Expectations miniseries is a dramatic adaptation of Charles Dickens's novel about Pip, an orphan who is suddenly given a fortune by a mysterious benefactor and becomes a gentleman in Victorian England. The series follows Pip as he falls for the cold, beautiful Estella, who was raised by the eccentric, jilted Miss Havisham to break men's hearts. Pip's journey involves the consequences of his new social status, a secret from his past, and the search for love and self-knowledge.
