Cut Bank is set in the remote, freezing town of Cut Bank, Montana. Dwayne McLaren (Liam Hemsworth), a young auto mechanic and former high school football star, dreams of escaping the stifling small-town life to find a better life in a big city. His girlfriend Cassandra Steeley (Teresa Palmer) supports his ambitions. One day, while filming a promotional video for the town in preparation for Cassandra’s local beauty pageant, Dwayne and Cassandra witness a shocking murder. The victim is Georgie Wits (Bruce Dern), an elderly USPS mail carrier. The attack is captured on Dwayne’s camera, and he sees an opportunity to profit from the footage — blackmailing the killer for a large sum.
