"The Burning Sea" is a Norwegian disaster thriller where an oil platform collapse in the North Sea triggers a series of events that threaten a major ecological catastrophe. A submarine operator, Sofia, investigates the incident and discovers it's not just an accident, but a sign of a potential apocalyptic scenario. Her love interest, an oil worker, becomes trapped, forcing Sofia to race against time and bureaucracy to save him and prevent a massive oil spill. The film explores themes of environmental responsibility and the consequences of unchecked resource extraction.
