Sonic: Labyrinth is a 1995 isometric action–puzzle game developed by Minato Giken and published by Sega for the Sega Game Gear. It was released in Japan on November 17, 1995, and in North America and Europe in November 1995. The story begins when Sonic, frustrated by his repeated defeats, is tricked into wearing Slow Down Boots made from Chaos Emerald energy. These boots severely reduce his speed, and only the six Chaos Emeralds can remove them. Eggman, in his pride, stores the Emeralds in his new fortress, the Super Labyrinth, on South Island. Sonic must infiltrate the maze, defeat Eggman’s guards and contraptions, and retrieve the Emeralds to regain his speed.
