Charlie St. Cloud is a 2010 American supernatural drama film based on Ben Sherwood's novel The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud. The story follows Charlie St. Cloud's choice between keeping a promise he made to his younger brother, who died in a car accident, or going after the girl he loves. Charlie, a sailor who wins a professional boating race on his sailboat, the Splendid Splinter, along with his younger brother Sam, receives a sailing scholarship to Stanford University. After graduation, Charlie promises Sam they will practice baseball together every day until he leaves for Stanford. However, a car accident forces Charlie to become the caretaker of the cemetery where Sam is buried, leading him to a journey of love, healing, and self-discovery.
