Bob (Chester Morris) is a bitter criminal from the small town of New Jerusalem who, along with several outlaws, robs the town bank on Christmas Eve. Bob, Doc (Lewis Stone) and Gus (Walter Brennan) succeed in holding up the bank and head for the desert, where they quickly realize most of the watering holes have dried up. Soon after, their horses run off and they discover a wagon where a woman lies dying. With her newborn baby in tow, the outlaws begin their dangerous trek back to New Jerusalem.
